MSC Zoe – Loss of 270 Containers

Following Storm Zeetje hitting the Northern Coast of Germany on the night of Tuesday 01.01.2019 the MSC Zoe has lost 270 containers overboard near the island of Borkum.

Due to a strong tide many containers have been carried South West towards the Netherlands.

Several containers have been found in German waters and others have been sighted by the Dutch Coastguard between the islands of Ameland and Schiermonnikoog.

The owner of this vessel is Mediterranean Shipping Company who are looking into what has caused this incident. MSC Zoe is currently docked in Bremerhaven in order to discharge cargo.
