Felixstowe Container Returns

We have been advised this morning that the continued congestion at the Port of Felixstowe has not yet been alleviated and space on the port is limited. As a result of this carriers have been advising that they will no longer accept empty containers back to the depots at the Port of Felixstowe. This morning MSC has advised that as of midday on Friday 15th October they will no longer allow empty containers to be returned to Felixstowe. They will continue to accept returns at other ports such as London Gateway and Southampton. As a result of this hauliers will need to travel significantly further to unload their vehicles which will result in additional haulage charges on top of an already increasing market.Due to the time taken to travel to the alternative restitution points, additional storage charges may be applicable as containers may be returned outside of the allotted free time.Neptune are liaising with carriers and hauliers to ensure the impact of this is as minimal as possible.Should your shipments be impacted we will ensure you are notified.
