Planting a Piece of Cornish Heritage

Today marks a special day here at Neptune, as a new tree is planted on site, a Cornish sessile oak.

This iconic species is native to Cornwall and is celebrated as an unofficial emblem of county.

Sessile oaks are biodiversity champions, supporting hundreds of species of wildlife, from birds and mammals to butterflies and moths.

Their strong, durable timber has been prized for centuries and was previously used in shipbuilding and barrel-making.

By planting this tree, we’re honouring local heritage and creating a lasting habitat for future generations.
